Sunday Fun Day

I'm going tell you all something very important about myself: I love Sundays. It is my favorite day of the week. It doesn't matter if it's winter or summer, if it's a Sunday, everyone who knows me knows what I'll be doing: worship in the morning, sleep all day, worship at night. It's the perfect schedule. With a thee part schedule comes three different outfits. Today, I'm sharing with you my Sunday morning outfit. You probably don't care to see what I wear to nap in. My sweatpants aren't very becoming.

Sweater and shirt: Goodwill
Skirt: Forever 21
Boots: H&M

I feel pretty confident in this outfit, which is always a nice feeling. The sweater is nice middle ground between the white shirt and black skirt, and I chose a softer pink lipstick to add a fun element to the monochromatic color pattern of the outfit.

Happy Sunday, and thanks for reading! I'm off to take a nap.

My New Jumper

Hello! I hope everyone is staying warm in this polar vortex. It's unbelievably cold here. Like I wore two coats today because the wind is so fierce. I feel like this has been the longest week ever. I don't know, ever since Monday night this week has creeped by.

I really wanted to wear this jumper this week, and I was like I don't care how cold it is. The above picture is a little blurry because my photographer Lily was focusing the picture on the brick wall. What a crazy!

Sweater: Goodwill
Corduroy Jumper: Goodwill
Black Tights: gift from my Granny
Black Socks: they're actually tights from Forever 21 I just cut them
Combat Boots: Rack Room Shoes
Beanie: Neff (from Amazon)

Well, I think I am going to go hibernate in my bed for the rest of the afternoon. Thanks to the ever fabulous Lily for taking my pictures with her fancy camera. Have a fun Friday night!!

With love--
Lydia

Long Weekend.

We were both off for MLK day, so I came up for the weekend. Sarah and I have been laying around and spending time with friends and family-- it's been real nice. We tried to take pictures the other day, but we were not feeling it to say the least.
We were talking today about how when we take pictures together our outfits always seem to compliment each other. Great minds think alike.

Lydia

I really like the simplicity of this outfit and that it can easily transition from day to night with just a few simple changes. Normally, people would tell someone of my body shape to not wear tight bottoms especially with a chart tucked in. But forget that. Wear what you feel confident in and forget the fashion rules. Preach.

Blazer: Hand-me-down
Top: Yardsale dress
Jeans: Gap outlet
Boots: Lauren Conrad Kohls
Watch: Fossil

 Sarah

I'm smiling because my friends are in town, and I didn't have to go to school. A pretty good combination.

Not a Duke fan, or really a football fan for that matter, I just like how easily I can style the sweatshirt. It's nice and casual with an infinity scarf and a pair of jeans or a little dressier with black shorts and
tights.

Hat: Antique shop
Shorts and Duke Sweatshirt: Goodwill
Boots: H&M
Bag: Forever 21

Classes start back tomorrow. Wish us luck!

Peace and love,
Lydia and Sarah

Current Favorites

Instead of a style post, today I wanted to share with you some things that I am currently looooving. I had originally planned on posting some sweeeet model shots of me in my first Spring semester outfit, but I got home after class, looked in the mirror and said, "What was I thinking with this makeup?" So, that stinks. There's always tomorrow.

Here we go.

Stuck In Love- I’m on Netflix, thinking about watching some 90210, when I see that they’ve uploaded one of my favorite movies— Stuck In Love. So of course I had to forgo my previous plans and watch it, which I’m sure I’ll do plenty more times. It was quite the exciting moment for me. The main three characters, a dad and his son and daughter, develop so nicely throughout the movie, and the story is a such a good one. Lily Collins, whom I love because of her eyebrows, stars and Logan Lerman, whom I love because of his boyish good looks and ridiculous talent, plays her love interest. If those two aren’t enough to make you want to watch it, I have nothing for you.

Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Hair Cream- I’ve been using, and loving, this brand’s sea salt spray for a while, but I just starting using this product along with the spray. It is so nice, I’m left wondering why I’ve waited so long to try it. I have naturally curly hair, and I love the texture and volume it adds, making my hair easier to style, which is important because I am not about spending a lot of time on it. The consistency freaked me out at first (all I can think of to describe it is like snot. Sorry that’s super gross), but it’s really easy to work through damp and dry hair.

Revlon Color Burst Matte Balm in Unapologetic- Let me tell you right now, I am unapologetic about how much I am obsessed with this product (yes, that was dumb, but I couldn’t pass the opportunity up). I’ll keep it short because I know several beauty bloggers have raved over these Revlon crayons. Basically, it goes on easily, feels light and smooth on your lips, and lasts a wonderfully long time, unless you’re eating, but reapplying is easy. Also, this color is so beautiful, I just stare at it every time I put it on. Weird? Yes. But don’t judge me ’til you try it.

Little Mix- It’s a British girl band. Just knowing that, I’m already in love, but I’ll continue. Much like One Direction, this group of four girls was put together on the X Factor. Unlike One Direction, however, Little Mix won, being the first group to win the popular singing competition. Their first album, DNA, landed the #4 spot on Billboard’s top 200, beating out the Spice Girl’s record, quite a feat in the time of YouTube, Spotify, and illegal downloads. The girls are beautiful and have their own fun, unique style. Their songs are empowering, catchy, and each of the girls is a powerhouse, so the album is filled with “wow” moments. Their new album, Salute, comes out sometime in February. Until then, I do not mind listening to their “old stuff” to get myself pumped up in the morning.

I'm ending this post in the best way possible-- with a super cute picture of One Direction announcing at the VMAs.

Braids and a Blue Beanie

I'm going to be honest with ya'll. I am not on my game today. I think we all have days where we just aren't feeling very confident in how we look, and I had one of those days today. Soooo why am I blogging? I told Lydia that I would blog today, and so here I am. Such a good friend.

Julia took my pictures in an alleyway today, which is also a one way street used by cars. Who knew? People also walk through here as a short cut, I guess. These two facts made for some really awkward moments, but I won't go into detail on them mainly because I'm still cringing about it.

Carhartt beanie
Mom's sweater
Jeans: TJ Maxx
Shoes: Goodwill

The colors in this outfit are brighter than what I usually wear, but I like how nicely they fit together. I got this beanie in the mail last Saturday, and this is my first time wearing it out and about. It is such good quality, and it gives me the opportunity to add color to my mostly black attire.

I start spring semester this Thursday, and I'm pretty excited about it. I'll let you know if that changes once I have to wake up for my daily 8 ams.

See you soon!

Oooo la la

Okay, I really am not some fashion obsessed consumer who has to have it all, but I reallyyy like these items. I just needed you to know that.

Anyways, I recently watched this documentary about ballerinas and I just love the way they dress. I think this little black skirt is reminiscent of a ballerina's skirt (like when they are practicing.) And they just always looks so effortlessly chic.

Wedge heels allow for that extra fancy, but are still comfortable. This Mary-Jane style makes this shoe look extra sweet. Just too cute.

The Michael Kors Bag. Way out of my budget, but it is so classic. I love the shape so much. I am not much of a bag person, but I could be if I had this bag.

I have one of these Revlon Lip Butters that my friend Katelyn got me and they are awesome. They give you pigmentation while not being dry on the lips. I think they are perfect for day because they are a low maintenance lipstick. I want them all.

Simple knuckle rings (is that what they are called??) are so cool. Look at them. They are cool. That's all I have to say.

Now this jacket. I love the shape. It's kind of masculine, but the color keeps it feminine. Unfortunately, this coat is from Topshop.

Well, these are some of the items that I have my eye on right now. Feel free to buy me any or all of them.  Keep it real people!

It's Still Winter

Hey it's me! Today, I spent some time with my sister, Julia, and our dear friend Lauren. They were kind enough to take pictures for the blog today.

Wow! They are looking' good, too!

For some reason, I thought it was supposed to be warm outside today, but it was actually quite chilly. I am such an effortless model, though, you can't even tell!

Shirt: Lydia's closet (the tag says Gap)
Black jeans, Boots, Bag, Sunglasses: Forever 21
I guess it was a Forever 21 kind of day.

Let me tell you, ya'll. There comes a time in the winter season when I am ready for summertime to come. This time has come sooner than usual. I am ready for the freedom of a nice pair of shorts. In the meantime, I guess I'll have to be a big girl and get used to the cold, especially since I start school next week, and I'll be spending a good deal of time walking in Tennessee's harsh winter conditions.

I'll leave you with this photo of me looking very fabulous.

Back at School

It has been unbelievably cold here, making style a little difficult. You see, I am very much a dress and tights girl which isn't exactly appropriate for 6 degree weather. This outfit has a bit of an androgynous feel to it that I really like.

A big thanks to my friend Megan who took these pictures of me in the library (aka Club Lup.) Luckily no strangers were too close to us when we were taking these pictures, so it wasn't too weird. Megan and I are excited to explore the town and find some cool places to take pictures.

This was my first week back at school. I just know this semester is gonna go by in a flash-- which I'm thankful for. I am moderately excited about my classes.

Scarf: Gift-- Etsy
Top: Goodwill-- Gap
Jeans: Plato's Closet-- American Eagle
Socks: Sock Man
Boots: Belk-- Madden Girl
Blue Jean Jacket: Yard sale-- Levi's

I am looking forward to this weekend-- a chance to relax a little and catch up on some homework (how am I already behind???) Well, I hope everyone has a really nice weekend!

Thanks for reading,
Lydia

My Style Influences and Inspirations

Hello, friends! Today, I've decided to share my style inspirations and influences because it's been incredibly cold in Tennessee these past few days, and I haven't left my house since Sunday night. I'm the biggest baby when it comes to snow and cold weather, so you won't be seeing any pictures of me standing outside in my outfit of the day any time soon.

Lou Teasdale
In the middle of summer last year, I made the decision that I would dress grunge-y when the weather got cooler. This goal was pretty intimidating because, as you will come to see, my style is everywhere. Pinning it down to one mode was difficult. I looked to Lou Teasdale to learn how to execute the style, and, while I’ve kind of strayed from my original goal, the way I dress is still heavily influenced by her. She seems to be so comfortable in her skin and she her style is soooo 90s, but not in an outdated or tacky way. She’s fantastic. Also, look at her hair.

Rachel Green
F.R.I.E.N.D.S. is one of my all time favorite shows, not only for the perfect humor and lovable characters, but also because Rachel Green’s wardrobe is fabulous. She is queen of the classic white tee, and I can only dream of looking as good as she does in overalls. She even looks incredible in her pajamas and loungewear. I think it’s in one of the earlier scenes where Rachel Green wears this white sweater that says USA in bold navy print tucked into a black mini skirt and black tights, and I will never get over it.

Demi Lovato

My feelings for Demi Lovato can be summed up in two words: girl crush. Her hair/makeup/outfits are always spot on, and when I grow up, I want to be her. I think Demi’s blonde hair was the sub-conscience inspiration for dying my hair ombre last July— I’m not brave enough to go full blonde, so I had went half-sies. Demi Lovato’s style is so pretty and fun that I think of summer when I see a picture of her. I’m sitting here trying to type words that describe her style better, but the only sentence my brain can come up with is, “I love her so much.”

Harry Styles
Yes, there are more pictures of Harry Styles, but are you complaining?

There are quite a few mornings when I look in the mirror and say, “I am dressed like Harry Styles today.” As he is a young man, and I am a young woman, I’m not sure if this is a good thing, but, nonetheless, we have very similar styles. He is often seen wearing skinny jeans, a loose fitting, plaid shirt or band tee, and a beanie or scarf pulling back his hair. When I want to be comfortable, yet still confident that I look good, I go to that sort of look. I don’t know if it’s weird that I’m taking style cues from Harry Styles, but it is what it is.

I hope you guys enjoyed this brief overview of people who have been influencing my style as of late. Hopefully,  I'll post a style post this week.

Thanks for reading,
Sarah

Goodwill Hunting

Goodwill 50% off Saturday. It's a day of finding and losing. You find new pieces to add to your closet, but you definitely lose at least a small bit of your hope in humanity. It's always an absolute mad house on these days, especially if you go when it first opens. There are people with buggies everywhere trying to squeeze into an aisle already occupied by six other ladies, kids either running all around the store or getting yelled at by parents, and fifteen minute lines for the dressing room. I've had some angry words spewed at me by a hateful woman, our eyes both on the same skirt, and in the middle of it all, you wonder, "What am I doing here?", but its usually worth it in the end.

Lydia

I really didn't want ya'll to see this lazy t-shirt side of me-- especially on our second interaction. Whatever. I really didn't get as much at Goodwill as I normally do, but I did get some solid pieces that will fit into my wardrobe naturally. I am trying to buy less stupid stuff and be more thoughtful in my purchases. Sarah and I's trip to Goodwill was a fun way to start a hard day of goodbyes for me, and I'm happy I went! Also, I'm still working on my poses, sooooooooo sorry if they make you feel uncomfortable (because they do me.)

T shirt: My brother's closet
Leggings: Old Navy
Boots: Lauren Conrad- Kohls
Watch: Fossil

Sarah

This is a sleeeeeepy smile because, as much as I want to be, I am not a morning person, but, after a wild night of watching One Direction's This Is Us for the third time this week, I woke up early to hit up the Goodwill with Lydia before she left to go back to college.

Headband: Krochet Kids (a gift from my very cool friend Laurn)
Sweater: Sheinside
Brown suede leggings: These were a gift from my friend Megan, but the tag in the back says Gossip Girl, so I think that means I am very stylish in these leggings.
Scalloped socks: H&M
Black converse: Journeys

This is our last post together for a while, as we are in separate cities now, so be on the lookout for our individual posts. In the meantime, follow us on bloglovin'!

Friday, January 3, 2014

Well, hello!

Welcome! We're really pumped to start this blog and share our appreciation of fashion with each other and with you. The two of us started this blog because, as college students, we each saw a laziness in the way our peers dressed, and we wanted a way to inspire and be inspired by people with the same outlook we have. We are by no means experts or professionals-- we just really like clothes. This is a new and exciting adventure for us,  and we hope this isn't our only post...

Sarah's sister, Julia, was gracious enough to be the photographer for our glamorous Books-A-Million photo shoot. It was hard to get our model on with creepy strangers in leather jackets walking by every few seconds, but we managed to work it.

We think this is a good time to give a shoutout to our main girl, Demi Lovato, for looking fine as ever on the cover of NYLON mag.

Lydia

Alright homies. I know it looks like I'm not having fun, but I am. I am not a grammar or literature person, so I will apologize in advance for that.

Beanie: Forever 21
Top: Kohls
Leggings: Kohls
Boots: Rack Room (Suckas)

Sarah

This is a sweet pic of me having the time of my life in BAM.

Hat: Forever 21
Denim top: thrift shop
Harley tee: my mom's closet
Leather leggings: Forever 21
Boots: H&M

(before I got these boots for Christmas, I had dreams about them. That's how much I love them)

Hope you enjoyed our first blog post!

We're still working on our signature phrase, so for now, we'll say, "Peace out, suckers!"
